Building authority by challenging what people think chiropractic is for

HealthcareBrand strategyBrand communications

Wild Chiropractic already had a strong practice, healthy patient demand and founders with a clear philosophy of care.

Matt and Kyna Hamilton came to Hum with a bigger ambition: build greater authority around Wild, become a stronger voice in chiropractic and attract more people who understood and valued their approach.

The challenge was that before Wild could build preference for itself, it had to deal with some of the baggage attached to the category.

The Challenge

Chiropractic was already familiar, but not always well understood.

For many people it meant a quick adjustment when something hurt, or sat somewhere behind physiotherapy as a less familiar option. Pain in a muscle was naturally interpreted as a muscular problem, which made physio the obvious first call.

Wild believed the body was more complex than that. Their approach placed greater emphasis on the spine, structure and nervous system, and on the idea that where discomfort presents isn’t necessarily the whole story. Just as importantly, they believed meaningful change takes time and consistency rather than a single intervention.

So this wasn’t simply a marketing problem. To build authority for Wild, we first needed to help the practice clearly articulate what it believed chiropractic was for, how it should work and why that mattered.

The Insight

The philosophy was already sitting inside the business.

Matt and Kyna believed chiropractic was a process, not a transaction. Years of modern living don’t accumulate around the body overnight, and their approach wasn’t built around expecting one adjustment to undo them.

That philosophy also explained the name. “Wild” came from their belief in a more natural, adaptive version of the human body, before the accumulated effects of sitting, screens, stress and modern life.

The opportunity was to turn those beliefs into a clear position the market could understand.

Hum’s Role

Hum worked with Matt and Kyna to define Wild’s strategic position, researching the category and competitors, clarifying what the practice believed and identifying where that belief created meaningful separation.

The critical shift was from marketing what Wild does to articulating what Wild believes about the body and the process of care.

That gave the practice a stronger foundation for building credibility and authority without relying on exaggerated claims, comparative attacks or testimonial-led marketing.

The Brand Platform

The strategic spine became: Chiropractic is a process, not a transaction.

It challenged the quick-fix expectation without attacking the category around it, while reflecting how Wild already practised.

From there, Hum developed the broader brand narrative and gave that philosophy a more human external expression:

The public story was deliberately simple: a philosophy previously understood mainly inside the clinic became a clear and distinctive position the business could build around.

The Outcome

Wild now has a clearer way to explain what it believes, how its approach differs and why time, consistency and participation matter within that philosophy.

That clarity also gave the practice’s communications somewhere to go. Rather than creating content simply to stay visible, Wild could start building authority around a consistent point of view.

The strategy has since moved into messaging, channel planning and an ongoing content system designed to put that position to work.

In Their Words

“We had a strong philosophy and a patient base that genuinely loved us, but we couldn’t articulate why we were different in a way that meant anything outside the building… Damiano pushed back when our thinking was lazy and kept the output grounded in what Wild actually is rather than what sounds good… Now everything we put out comes from the same place. That internal coherence is harder to build than it sounds.

If your business has an identity you can feel but can’t clearly say, talk to Damiano.”
